EVENT IMPACT
Summer is a time when children should be getting ahead, not falling behind. Without structured and supervised activities throughout the eight weeks of summer vacation, many children lose months of knowledge when they return back to school in September. Structured summer programs have been show to raise math and reading performance, increase attendance, reduce dropout rates, decrease involvement in crime, improve behaviour at school and heighten interest in learning. The net proceeds raised from the 10th Annual Blueprint for the Future will go directly to offsetting the costs of providing an experiential summer camping experience for at-risk inner-city children and youth.
